Matth\u00edas \u00d6rn Fri\u00f0riksson and Maria J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir are the new Icelandic Singles Champions of 2020! The pairs titles went to \u00deorgeir Gu\u00f0mundsson\/Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n Hauksson and Ingibj\u00f6rg Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir\/J\u00f3hanna Bergsd\u00f3ttir. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Men Singles
<\/strong>Fri\u00f0riksson didn\u2019t start in the group stage because he was already qualified for the last 32. He played his first match against Olafur Sigurj\u00f3nsson. After losing the first leg, Fri\u00f0riksson won 5 legs in a row including a 170-checkout in the second leg! Check that leg back here<\/a><\/strong>. In the last 16 and the quarterfinals, Fri\u00f0riksson won twice 5-0 against P\u00e1ll \u00c1rni P\u00e9tursson and Rudolf Einarsson. Bjarni Sigur\u00f0sson was the opponent for \u2018The Eagle\u2019 in the semi-finals. Fri\u00f0riksson was 3-1 down, but with some good legs, he didn\u2019t lose more legs and won 6-3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final defending champion Vitor Charrua was the opponent. Fri\u00f0riksson started very strong by winning the first three legs. Charrua came back to 3-2 with legs in 17 and 18 darts. Fri\u00f0riksson then again won two legs in a row for a 5-2 lead. After leg 7, Charrua really started to throw much better, including two 15-darters and a 158-finish for 5-5. With a 13-dart-leg Fri\u00f0riksson held his own leg for a 6-5 lead. In leg 12 the 33-years-old missed a couple of match darts, Charrua punished him; 6-6. In the deciding leg, both players felt the nerves, but with throwing double 4 with his last dart in hand Fri\u00f0riksson crowned himself as Icelandic Champion for the first time! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women Singles
<\/strong>Maria J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir was already qualified for the knock-out stage and started in the last 16. She defeated \u00de\u00f3rey Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir 5-2. In the quarterfinals, she was too strong for former Icelandic Champion Petrea Fri\u00f0riksd\u00f3ttir 5-1. In the semi-finals, J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir defeated defending champion Ingibj\u00f6rg Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir in a thriller (6-5), where both players missed matchdarts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dilj\u00e1 Helgad\u00f3ttir reached the final for the second year in a row. The first 4 legs went with the darts. In the fifth leg, Helgad\u00f3ttir broke with double 9 to 3-2. After the fifth leg, J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir won all the legs for a 7-3 win and her fourth Icelandic Championship title! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icelandic Singles Champions 2020!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Men Pairs
<\/strong>On 8 March the Icelandic Pairs Championships were played in Reykjavik. \u00deorgeir Gu\u00f0mundsson\/Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n Hauksson didn’t start the tournament well, they lost their first group match 3-1 to Alex D\u00faason\/Vi\u00f0ar Valdimarsson. In the second match, they defeated Gu\u00f0laugur G\u00fastafsson\/\u00cdvar Gu\u00f0laugsson 3-0 with an average of 83,5. The last two group matches were also won 3-0 against \u00deorgeir Einarsson\/Sumarli\u00f0i \u00c1rnason and Gunnar Kristinsson\/J\u00f3n R\u00edkhar\u00f0sson. In the last 32, Gu\u00f0mundsson\/Hauksson defeated Philip Godin\/Halld\u00f3r Gu\u00f0mundsson 4-0 with an average of 89,7! They won the legs in 15,18,14 en 20 darts, including 6 perfect darts in the third leg. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Karl Helgi J\u00f3nsson\/Bjarni Sigur\u00f0sson 5-3. In the semi-finals, the pair won 6-2 against P\u00e1ll \u00c1rni P\u00e9tursson\/H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00de\u00f3r Gu\u00f0j\u00f3nsson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final, the 2018 Icelandic Champions Hallgrimur Egilsson\/Vitor Charrua were the opponents. It was a very simple victory for Gu\u00f0mundsson\/Hauksson, Egilsson\/Charrua missed a huge number of doubles in the final. In the eight legs that were played in the final, Egilsson\/Charrua had in six legs darts at the double. In the end, it was a 7-1 win for the older pair, who takes their second Icelandic title, after the win in 2001. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icelandic Men Pairs Champion 2020!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Women Pairs
<\/strong>Ingibj\u00f6rg Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir\/J\u00f3hanna Bergsd\u00f3ttir won their fourth pairs title in Reykjavik. They started with three wins in the group stage against Petrea Fri\u00f0riksd\u00f3ttir\/Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir (3-0), Bergn\u00fd Baldursd\u00f3ttir\/\u00de\u00f3rey \u00c1g\u00fastsd\u00f3ttir (3-0) and \u00d3laf\u00eda Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir\/\u00de\u00f3rey Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir (3-1). In the quarterfinals, Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir\/Bergsd\u00f3ttir were too strong for Sandra Gu\u00f0laugsd\u00f3ttir\/Krist\u00edn Bjarnad\u00f3ttir with 5-2. In the semi-finals, they haven\u2019t problems with S\u00f3lveig Dan\u00edelsd\u00f3ttir\/Dilj\u00e1 Helgad\u00f3ttir and reached the final with a 6-1 win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final Petrea Fri\u00f0riksd\u00f3ttir\/Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir were again the opponents. After 1-1 Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir\/Bergsd\u00f3ttir won 4 legs in a row for a 5-1 lead. After that Fri\u00f0riksd\u00f3ttir\/J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir won only one more leg, so Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir\/Bergsd\u00f3ttir won the final with 7-2 for another pairs title! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
