Euro Tour Qualifier 11
On Friday afternoon, the first Euro Tour Qualifier of the weekend began, for the European Darts Matchplay. Hallgrimur Egilsson managed to make the quarter-finals. He defeated Petur Thomsen (6-4) and Haraldur Palsson (6-0). In the quarterfinals, Oskar Lukasiak was 6-4 too strong, though ‘Halli Egils’ got one dart on the double for 5-5. Dennis Nilsson qualified, he defeated Niels Jørgen Hansen 6-2 in the final.
Euro Tour Qualifier 12
Later that Friday night became the Qualifier for International Darts Open. Once again Egilsson managed to make the quarter-finals, Vitor Charrua did it too. Charrua won 6-5 against Bjarni Sigurdsson, before losing 6-1 to Dennis Nilsson. Egilsson defeated Esmar Mikkelsen (6-5) and Atli Bjarnason (6-1) to his route to the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals, once again, a Swedish player was too strong, Daniel Larsson won 6-4. Egilsson missed some small chances on the double. Larsson eventually qualified as well, defeating Cor Dekker 6-4 in the final.
Pro Tour 5
Saturday morning started with the fifth Pro Tour. Only two Icelanders managed to reach the last 16. Matthías Örn Friðriksson and Eyjólfur Gunnarsson won their first match against Throstur Ingimarsson (6-0) and Pól Høgni Nielsen (6-5). In the last 16, Ulf Ceder won 6-0 against Friðriksson, while Gunnarsson lost 6-1 to Daniel Larsson. The final was played between Madars Razma and Darius Labanauskas. In an exciting final, in which Razma returned from 0-4 to 5-5 and missed 8 matchdarts, it was Labanauskas who won the match 6-5.
Euro Tour Qualifier 13
Later on Saturday, the last Euro Tour Qualifier of the season was played. Þorgeir Guðmundsson was the best Icelander, defeating Esmar Mikkelsen (6-1) in the last 16. In the quarterfinals Cor Dekker was clearly too strong, the Norwegian won 6-1. Hallgrimur Egilsson and Pétur Guðmundsson fell short for a place in the quarterfinals, Roland Lenngren and Jesper Skovgaard were too strong. Cor Dekker managed to win the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, taking revenge on Daniel Larsson with 6-5.
Pro Tour 6
On Sunday, Pro Tour 6 was held in Keflavik. This tournament didn’t prove to be a successful tournament for the Icelanders, only Kristinn Helgason reached the last 16 after victories at Haraldur Pálsson (6-3) and Bjarni Sigurdsson (6-4). In the last 16, Danish Søren Hedegaard was 6-1 too strong. Egilsson and Friðriksson both lost with a whitewash against Razma and Labanauskas. Pro Tour 6 was won by a well-played Marko Kantele, he was 6-4 too strong for Dennis Nilsson in the final.
