Last weekend the IPS Rankings 5-8 were played in the Pílufélag Reykjanesbæjar. Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir won all the women tournaments, while Björn Steinar Brynjólfsson, Matthías Örn Friðriksson and Hallgrimur Egilsson were succesfull in the men tournaments. 

IPS Ranking 5

The first ranking of the weekend started with 15 players. Björn Steinar Brynjólfsson and Karl Helgi Jónsson reached the final of IPS Ranking. Brynjólfsson defeated Hallgrimur Egilsson (5-3), Gardar Magnusson (5-1) and Alex Máni Pétursson (5-1) on his way to the final! Jónsson was too strong for Sigurgeir Guðmundsson (5-3), Pétur Guðmundsson (5-4) and Matthías Örn Friðriksson (5-3).

In the final, it was Brynjólfsson who started very well with winning the first two legs. Jónsson came back with two legs in a row on his own for 2-2. The next three legs were breaks for a 4-3 lead for Brynjólfsson. Leg 8 went with the darts and so Brynjólfsson won his first-ever IPS Ranking! Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir started very well, she won the women tournament with a 5-0 win over Maria Jóhannesdóttir.

IPS Ranking 6

The sixth IPS Ranking were played later on the Saturday with again 15 players. Matthías Örn Friðriksson and Pétur Guðmundsson reached in the final. Friðriksson did it with wins over Viðar Valdimarsson (5-0) and Björn Brynjólfsson (5-1). Guðmundsson saw off Alexander Þorvaldsson (5-2), Vitor Charrua (5-1) and Sigurgeir Guðmundsson (5-4).

Friðriksson started as the better player, he won the first two legs of the final. The next 4 legs went with the darts for a 4-2 lead for ‘The Eagle’. In leg 7 Friðriksson hit three scores of 100 and hit double 15 for a 5-2 win and his fourth ranking title of the season! The women final was the same as the tournament before, this time Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir won 5-3 against Jóhannesdóttir.

IPS Ranking 7

The Sunday started with 12 players at IPS Ranking 7. Hallgrimur Egilsson and Pétur Guðmundsson reached the final. Egilsson reached his first final of the year with wins over Alex Máni Pétursson (5-1), Þröstur Ingimarsson (5-0) and Sigurgeir Guðmundsson (5-1). Guðmundsson reached his second final of the week, this time he was too strong for Alexander Þorvaldsson (5-4), Karl Helgi Jónsson (5-2) and Þorgeir Guðmundsson (5-4).

In the final, the first 3 legs went with the darts. In the fourth leg, Egilsson produced a 180 and hitting double 5 for the break; 3-1. Egilsson held his own leg in 24 darts for 4-1. In the sixth leg Guðmundsson missed 5 darts at the double, Egilsson managed to find double 16 with his last dart for a 5-1 victory and the title! Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir won the women’s tournament with a 5-0 over Diljá Tara Helgadóttir in the final.

IPS Ranking 8

The last ranking of the weekend was started with 12 players. Again it was Hallgrimur Egilsson who reached the final, he was too strong for Viðar Valdimarsson (5-1), Þröstur Ingimarsson (5-0) and Vitor Charrua (5-4). Matthías Örn Friðriksson was the other finalist, also his second final of the week. Sigurður Aðalsteinsson (5-1) and Pétur Guðmundsson (5-3) were beaten on the way to the final.

In the first leg of the final Friðriksson hit a 180, but with a 73-checkout Egilsson held his own leg. With double 10 Egilsson broke the throw of his compatriot. With a 75-checkout Egilsson managed to win three legs in a row for a 3-0 lead. The next 4 legs went with the darts, so Egilsson does the double with a 5-2 win in the final! Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir won her fourth title of the weekend, she defeated Diljá Tara Helgadóttir 5-3 in the final.
